Our Leadership
Mike D’Onofrio
Co-Owner, Integrator
Mike grew up in Piedmont, California, in the San Francisco Bay Area. He graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in Civil Engineering. In lieu of entering the professional ranks of engineering or large scale construction, Mike felt deeply compelled to become a carpenter. He wanted to know how things got built in real life, not just in the classroom or on paper. In particular, the intimacy and complexity of residential remodels have always captivated Mike.
He moved to Boulder to enjoy the mountains and to seek work in residential construction. Along the way, Mike met his wife and they now have two wonderful girls and one amazing yellow Labrador dog, Mabel, who frequently accompanies Mike to work.
Eric Youngren
Co-Owner, Visionary, Head of Sales and Design
Eric grew up in Stillwater, Minnesota. He has great childhood memories of camping, fishing and hiking. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Forestry degree.
Eric has also always enjoyed working with his hands. As a boy, he would spend hours in his dad’s woodshop. He loved to design and build all sorts of projects, ranging from woodworking to electrical and even mechanical systems. He moved to Colorado in 1996 to ski and bike and play in all seasons. He continues to share his passions with his wife and two children.
Alyssa Schmit
Head of Admin and Finance
Alyssa is a southwest person at heart, having spent most of her life in New Mexico, Arizona, and Colorado. She believes that the hotter the better, both with weather temps and spicy food (New Mexican green chile is her favorite). She has a B.S. in Parks and Recreation Management and has a varied career history including backpack guide and baker. However, Alyssa has found that she really likes the office life and SoBo Homes is a great fit.
When not at work, Alyssa enjoys growing veggies, taking her pup on a hike, animal rescue work, and roller skating around town.
The Design Team
Laura Wisner
Sales & Marketing
Originally from Wisconsin, Laura traded lakes for mountains. A graduate of UW-Madison, Laura is a business and marketing pro who spent the majority of her career leading marketing at world-class run, ski, and cycling brands. She and her husband have undertaken remodeling projects at every home they’ve owned, from small kitchen refreshes to extensive whole-home renovations. In fact, one of her first basement remodels was handled by SoBo Homes in 2009. Laura’s enthusiasm for incorporating personality and lifestyle into existing dwellings led her to join SoBo Homes.
When in play mode Laura rides bikes, skis, explores new recipes, reads, and drinks coffee. She adores her husband, two children (Go Beavs! Go Huskies!), two cats, and being a Boulderite.
Lisa Gambiana
Senior Interior Designer
Lisa’s path to interior design has not been a linear one. Leaving Minnesota for California after high school, Lisa attended FIDM and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Merchandise Marketing. Upon graduation she moved to San Francisco to work exclusively for a clothing designer launching a men’s private label. During those years she helped expand the business into three locations throughout the Bay Area area, while assisting with branding, marketing, and the retail design build out. From there, the migration into interior design became the natural next step.
Lisa eventually moved back to the Midwest where she furthered her education with an Interior Design degree and NKBA Certification. Since then, residential interior design has been her primary focus. She’s worked with feng shui designers, high-end luxury design firms, and architects, even establishing a freelance career in both Minnesota and Colorado, proving to herself that she’s a hustler at heart. What’s been the most rewarding, however, was her opportunity to work at a Danish modern furniture showroom and restoration shop where she deepend her appreciation for historical design and architecture.
In 2018, Lisa packed up her car to head West yet again; this time checking off “living near the mountains” from her bucket list. Since then, Colorado has become a place she sees as a forever home, and is grateful to have met the SoBo Homes team. When not collaborating with her design clients, you can find Lisa cooking with friends, completing her yoga teacher training, or learning how to snowboard again after a 20 years hiatus.

Kayla’s soul-searching journey led her to discover her passion for single-family residential projects, and she is thrilled to contribute to the SoBo Homes team.
Residing in Arvada with her husband and two dogs, Kayla engages her creativity through hobbies including videography, music, and art. She also enjoys golfing, and going to local breweries.
Ashley Ervick
Interior Designer
Ashley is an accomplished interior designer and Chicago native who found a new home among the stunning landscapes of Colorado. After earning a bachelor’s in Environmental + Interior Design from Chaminade University of Honolulu, she followed her passion for creating unique spaces with amazing teams. Ashley has had the privilege of designing everything from quaint island bungalows to luxurious mountain retreats and chic city lofts, blending functionality with aesthetic appeal to capture the essence of each client.
She’s drawn to projects that are sustainably focused, fresh, sophisticated, with an organic and earthy twist. To further immerse herself in the industry she’s currently studying for the LEED, Green Associate certification.
Beyond design, Ashley thrives on exploring the great outdoors—whether paddle boarding, hiking through breathtaking trails, or enjoying brunch with friends on a sun-drenched patio. She finds inspiration in music and culture, often attending concerts and exploring new destinations near and far.
Will Greak
Pre-Production Coordinator
Will grew up in Middleburg, Pennsylvania and graduated from Pennsylvania College of Technology with a degree in Construction Management. Before moving to Colorado in 2022, he enjoyed working hands-on with his father in his woodshop. Will hopes to be able to build his own woodshop someday to get back into the hobby he enjoys.
Being relatively new to Colorado, he’s been enjoying exploring Denver, finding all the cool attractions he possibly can. He also enjoys hiking and seeing the beautiful scenic views Colorado has to offer
Construction
David Herkert
Head of Construction
Moving from his hometown of Madison, WI, David comes to us with nearly 35 years of remodeling experience. After selling his remodeling company, David decided to check out Boulder where he’s known Mike and Eric for 25 years. His passion for remodeling along with his design abilities fit squarely into the SoBo mentality and is a great asset to the team. David enjoys riding his bike along with other activities that get him to the Colorado outdoors. He also enjoys getting out to NYC to visit his three grown kids where they all currently live.
Mason Gatto
Project Manager
Mason is a Minnesota native who came to Boulder to attend CU. He graduated from CU with a degree in Fine Art Photography. He set his roots here and began his career in construction. Mason has been involved in all facets of residential construction, operating his own company as a general contractor for 11 years before joining SoBo, which makes him especially well qualified to coordinate SoBo’s construction forces. Mason and his wife have two children and two cats. He loves to harvest the garden in the fall, play broomball in the winter, and visit his family’s Canadian cabin in the summer.
Kyle Klink
Project Manager
Kyle grew up in southeastern Wisconsin in the rolling farm country between Milwaukee and Madison. He was walking the woods as soon as his legs were able and began building houses in high school. He went to college at the University of Wisconsin-Stout where he earned a bachelor’s of science degree in Business, with a construction management emphasis. He moved to Colorado in 2007 to pursue his passion for the outdoors. He started working in the remodeling industry and also became a professional hunting guide. These two professions combined Kyle’s skills and interests perfectly. He now resides in beautiful Pinewood Springs where he, his wife, and two daughters continue their passion of living among the mountains.
Amanda Sinner
Construction Coordinator
Amanda was born and raised in Boulder County – in fact, her family homesteaded up Lefthand Canyon in the late 1800’s! She’s proud of our state’s rich history, beautiful scenery, and innovative spirit. She loves to golf, hike, boat, and enjoy the great Colorado outdoors!
She’s been in the construction industry for several years, from project management to helping her husband run his electrical company.
Florencio Rodriguez
Ace Carpenter
Floey is SoBo’s carpentry and joinery expert. He’s been building things since he was a young boy. Never intimidated by complexity, he has a deep passion for building intricate stain-grade furniture.
When he’s not creating with his hands, he enjoys living a simple life that’s centered around his wife and three children.
Mabel
Moral Compass
Arguably the most important member of our office team. Her at-home life is spent lounging around the house with her family, wandering around her yard sniffing, and going for outdoor hiking adventures. She’ll jump at any opportunity to splash in the water or to get her belly scratched.
Her most important roles at the office are planting herself right in front of her coworkers eagerly waiting to be acknowledged, boosting office morale, and carrying not-so-important papers to and fro. WWMD?

What Our Clients Say
Wow... so much good stuff to say about SoBo. From start to finish, Eric and Mike (owners) + Mason (production manager) and Kyle (on-site PM) and the core crew of Floey, Chino, Dave and others continuously impressed us. We started with a 1980's build that had too many walls and corners where we were always bumping into one another. Eric and Mike gave us an out-of-the-box design that makes our house feel twice the size as it was before while only adding a small addition in reality. The floorplan remodel was ingenious and it didn't stop there. The personalized attention throughout the design phase, through finish selection, and eventual construction was second to none. When the inevitable hiccup arose with city permits (yay, Boulder...), SoBo dealt with it and got us the approvals. And because they meet with you every week on-site, there were never any miscommunications or things that fell through the cracks -- in fact if anything came up, they always proactively caught things before we did, and had a remedy in mind ahead of time. In short, we're living in our dream home and have the SoBo team to thank for it!
